Texas Tech Achieves Increasingly High-Volume Data Loads

Texas Tech University is a teaching and research university in Lubbock, Texas. It was founded in 1923 and has the distinction of being the largest comprehensive higher education institution in the western two thirds of Texas. Enrollment at Texas Tech is over 30,000.

In 2008, four Admissions offices within Texas Tech University were considering membership in ApplyTexas – a clearinghouse for both Texas and non-Texas students to apply to the many outstanding postsecondary institutions in Texas. While this centralized application form is convenient for students, the form’s EDI files require customized technology to upload applications into Banner, TTU’s overarching student management software.

Technology Solutions:

Texas Tech spoke to several references and found that Axiom provided the solutions they needed including a splitter for ApplyTexas which indexes and files applications into an imaging system.

ApplyTexas also updates form fields, file structures, coding and other variables on an ongoing and yearly basis. Axiom updates them all automatically to keep Texas Tech on schedule with admissions.

Each year Texas Tech has been able to increase the number of data loads they perform through Axiom. When the University first implemented Axiom they performed approximately 15 or 16 data loads. Now, that number has increased to 40. During the University’s busiest month, that translates to 20,463 transactions through Axiom for all sources.

Greater throughput – increased accuracy – and time and money savings are all benefits of the Axiom solution.
